Dietary monitoring for assessing Metabolic Syndrome risk

CoDiet Pilot Trial

In this study, we are looking at the effectiveness of using health and dietary monitoring technologies to prevent diet-related diseases such as metabolic syndrome.

Currently we are seeking volunteers to take part in a pilot study.

Participants will be asked to track their dietary intake, physical activity and sleeping patterns by technologies. They will have their body composition and general health assessed by specialists in the field.

All participants will receive €140 upon completion of the study.

Who Is Eligible?

About

  • Metabolic syndrome is a condition where a cluster of factors occur together: abdominal obesity, high blood pressure, high triglyceride levels, raised glucose and low HDL cholesterol levels. It is associated with high risk of cardiovascular diseases.

  • For this study you are required to have at least 3 of the above conditions. If you are overweight, you have raised glucose levels and you are smoking or you have high triglyceride levels, you can participate in the study.

  • We will provide you with a wristband to track your exercise and sleep throughout the study. You will also be required to wear a microcamera for 5 days to help measure dietary intake, food types, and portion sizes. Your dietary intake will only be assessed, you will not asked to alter your diet.

  • Four visits in our lab will be required. Stool urine and blood samples will be collected twice as part of this study.
